This was followed by 20 years in investment banking, including time as Executive Director at JPMorgan. I was based in London with stints in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney and Milan. My roles were about creating, developing, building, implementing, changing and managing processes, functions, teams and departments. Now a business management consultant, I help businesses start up, change and run their operations.

In the course of my sustainable tourism studies, I increasingly realised how incompatible the current understanding of resource use is with the increasing development of resource scarcity. A long stay in Colombia suddenly opened up a completely new paradigm for me: resource efficiency and sustainability are not only compatible, they are directly interrelated and interdependent. As part of the renowned think tank ZERI, I was able to familiarise myself with numerous technologies, innovations and projects in various countries in which this philosophy is being put into practice.
